Executive Summary

My journey as a Registered Counsellor began with completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Johannesburg. I then went to complete an Honours degree in Psychology and an BPsych degree at the University of Free state to register as a Registered Counsellor with the HPCSA.

Followed by a certificate in Economics & Management and a Master’s (M.Com) in Business Management at the University of Johannesburg.

My holistic approach to knowledge and learning is maintained through keeping up to date with current trends and techniques through engaging in active Continuous Professional Development (CPD), as well as other management and IT related certificates.

I also help other Registered Counsellors to keep up to date with their Professional Development points, by providing a CPD service to them.

As a Registered Counsellor, I worked at the Centre for Psychological and Career Development (PsyCaD) at the University of Johannesburg. During this time I was the HIV & Aids Peer Educator Chairperson. I gained experience in leadership, management, marketing and promoting health services.

I worked at the UJ Sports Bureau as a Rugby Team manager. Likewise, I gained experience in sport psychology & sport administration.

Followed by this, I assisted with the Suicide Hotline at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG). This gave me experience in counselling over the phone.

During my internship, I have gained experienced working with the South African Police Services (SAPS). This included exposure to Stockholm syndrome, community mental health issues and Trauma Counselling.

I moved into substance abuse counselling with Westview Clinic, NGO. Providing counselling and substance abuse counselling awareness programs to the public.

My career made a career transition into food nutrition for children. I developed and managed a supply chain that fed 14 000 children per day by delivering food (perishable and non-perishable) to Early Childhood Development Centrers (ECD’s) in Gauteng. Followed by working for a well-known multinational franchise group for 5 years. Where my main focus was to support small to medium size businessmen and women in the full life cycle of a courier business.

Today, in my private practice, I provide Trauma Counselling and Career Counselling services to adults and adolescents.
